I'm in constant communication with those on the front lines in Ukraine, so allow me to let you in on the latest reports I'm receiving:
FIRST:
- After the dam was destroyed on June 6, thousands were forced from their homes to escape disastrous flooding.
- This tragic event has only compounded the conflict that has waged on since February 2022.
THEN:
- I got word that villages are flooded and left without water and electricity.
- A partner sent two buses to the affected region in southeast Ukraine and identified urgent needs like water – which is no longer available in wells – boats, generators, power banks, blankets, canned food, wood-burning stoves, fuel for delivery and some basic medicines.
NOW:
- We are in contact with our partners and are prepared to deliver medicines, supplies and provide emergency funding.
- Since the start of the war, Americares has supported 26 trips by volunteer medical teams to the region, and many have traveled directly into Ukraine where medical infrastructure has been destroyed while others go to neighboring countries to treat refugees. |
