Survey: Racism Prevalent in Nursing Schools, Workplaces
Most nurses responding to a March&ndash;April 2022 survey on racism said yes, they saw or experienced incidents of discrimination at the workplace, but only 1 in 4 said they reported it. That&rsquo;s among findings in the newly released survey of 980 nurses from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago, which measured perceptions of racism from both patients and colleagues

In a 90-minute forum, experts from Harvard Teaching Hospital, the American Nurses Association, Texas Tech University School of Nursing, and AARP Public Policy institute discuss the urgent matter of today&rsquo;s nursing workforce shortage. Tennessee Recognizes 2023 Rising Stars
The Tennessee Rising Star Nurse Leader program recognizes this year&rsquo;s up-and-coming nurses leaders who have already proved their mettle. The 25 honorees were selected by leaders from the Tennessee Action Coalition, Tennessee Nurses Association, and Tennessee Hospital Association. The program seeks to empower nurses from across the state to lead the profession in improving the health of Tennesseans.

Minnesota Wins Funds to Help Equity Efforts
Congratulations to Minnesota Action Coalition&rsquo;s Pipeline for American Indian/Alaska Natives Youth in Nursing and Other Health Professions: The effort has earned a Building Healthier Communities award from Stratis Health. The Action Coalition&rsquo;s mission is to create an Indigenous-led coalition to support greater health equity in Minnesota; grant funds will seed a website and database that will lay the groundwork to mentor AI/AN youth in middle schools to explore career paths in nursing and other health professions.

The Chronicle of Higher Education provides a DEI Legislation Tracker to show which states have proposed or passed legislation affecting diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. In a statement, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing links to the tracker and encourages &ldquo;member schools to be highly informed of not only the legislation, but on strategies to address proposed or passed legislation.&rdquo;
