stormed the fishing and herding villages of Tudun Kwastan, Kwatar Turare and
Kwatar Kuwait on the shores of the lake on Friday, seizing 30 herders,
including men and women, the sources said. ‘The Boko Haram insurgents went to
selected Fulani homes in the villages and took away 30 men and women,’ Labo
Sani, a fisherman from nearby Doron Baga, told AFP. ‘They left a message asking
the hostages' families to raise 20 million naira ($43,000) for their release,’
Labo said. The militants demanded the ransom be delivered to Musaram island,
where the hostages would be released to their families, said Sallau Arzika,
another fisherman.”

al-Shabaab attack in Mandera South. The seven were travelling in an armoured
vehicle from Alungu in neighbouring Lafey sub-county to Elwak for refuelling,
according to local security reports. The report further stated that their
vehicle, an armoured 110 Land Rover, was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device
(IED) planted along the Alungu-Elwak road. According to a witness, the vehicle
rolled several times after being hit.”

opened fire on the police. In the retaliatory fire, one terrorist was killed

activities, including attack on Adizai check post, extortion, wall chalking and

Pakistan Today: Three Terrorists Killed In Attack By ‘Accomplices’ In Swat

alleged shootout that took place in hills of Banjot area of Mangalwar in Swat
on Tuesday, the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Malakand Division confirmed.
According to DIG Malakand Division Nasir Mahmood Satti, the CTD and local
police were conducting a search operation in Banjot area where last month ( May
23) an exchange of fire between armed men and police occurred, killing one
civilian Jamad Ali Khan while a police cop named Waqar Khan was injured in the
firing. Yesterday on June 5, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Chief Akhtar Hayat Khan
announced the Counter Terrorism Department had arrested militants, including a
key militant commander Rafiullah and one of his facilitator Asmatullah
belonging to TTP Swat group. Both the terrorists were also presented before
local media. However on Tuesday, the DIG Malakand Division told to local media
persons that the CTD along with local police personnel took the arrested
militants – Rafiullah and Asmatullah to Banjot area in the light of information
extorted from them

“A Turkish court on Tuesday acquitted the former local head of Amnesty
International, Taner Kilic, and three other rights activists in a re-trial of a
protracted case on terrorism charges, the rights group said. In 2020, Kilic, a
former honorary chairman of Amnesty Turkey, was sentenced to more than six
years in prison on charges of supporting U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gulen,
whom Ankara blames for orchestrating an attempted coup in 2016. Three other
rights activists were sentenced to two years and one month in jail for
assisting a terrorist organisation. Those accused denied the charges. Turkey's
top appeals court, The Court of Cassation, referred Kilic's case back to a
first-instance court last year on the grounds of an ‘incomplete investigation’.”

conducted 38 operations against ISIS in Iraq and Syria, resulting in the arrest
of 31 ISIS operatives, and 8 ISIS suspects killed, US CENTCOM said on Tuesday.
‘Our partner forces continue to demonstrate the capability, capacity, and
competence to maintain the enduring defeat of ISIS,’ said Maj. Gen. Matthew
McFarlane, Commanding General of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent
Resolve, said in a press release. ‘The Coalition continues to Advise, Assist,
and Enable our partners to keep pressure on ISIS and prevent them from
re-establishing any type of network or effective military effort.’ In Iraq, 21
partnered operations were carried out in which 11 ISIS suspects were detained
and 6 were killed. In Syria, 17 were carried out, in which 20 ISIS suspects
were detained, and two were killed. ‘Despite their degraded capability, ISIS
remains a significant threat within the region,’ General Kurilla said.

AFP News: Nigerian Troops Killed In Jihadist Ambush On Convoy

“Several Nigerian soldiers died in an attack on a military convoy in the Lake
Chad region by jihadist fighters aligned with the Islamic State group, security
forces said Tuesday. The convoy was hit by militants from the Islamic State
West Africa Province (ISWAP) outside the northeastern village of Metele on
Friday, leading to a battle where one jihadist was able to detonate a suicide
vehicle amid the troops, the sources said. ‘We lost several men in the fierce
battle with ISWAP terrorists from a vehicle-borne suicide attack,’ one of the
sources told AFP. ‘I can't give a definite toll but the loss is substantial,’
he said. ISWAP on Sunday claimed responsibility for the ambush, which it said
killed or wounded around 20 Nigerian soldiers, according to the SITE
Intelligence group that monitors jihadist activities worldwide.”

“Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), in collaboration with Civilian Joint
Task Force (CJTF) and Hybrid forces have killed eleven suspected Islamic State
of the West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists in an extreme intrusion into
the insurgents enclaves in Sambisa forest in Borno state. The terrorists met
their waterloo during the intelligence led sustained offensive which was
conducted between May 31 and ended on June 4, 2023 in the terrorists hideouts
within the axis of Damboa and Chibok Local Government Areas. Intelligence
sources close to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security
analyst in the Lake Chad region, said that the troops stormed and cleared some
of the terrorists’ hideouts in Bale, Tirke, Mandari, Molgoi, Bego, Yarwa,
Ngurna. The sources said that some weapons, ammunition and other logistics were
recovered during the joint military operations.”
