Action Alert: You Are Needed At the U.S. Capitol-House To Vote on Smithsonian Women's History Museum

===========================

Dear D.C. Area NOW Activists:

TODAY, Tuesday February 11th, we make history-literally. A Women's History Museum, to be specific.

Rep. Carolyn Maloney has invited NOW and the Feminist Majority Foundation to watch the House vote to establish a Smithsonian Women's History Museum in Washington, DC.

In 2014, when the House was about to take up Carolyn Maloney's bill to establish a Women's History Museum, ultra conservative groups called it "a shrine to liberal ideology, abortion and liberal advocates." But the bill passed overwhelmingly, with just 33 Republicans voting against it. During the debate, Rep. Maloney said on the House floor, "with each step we take forward, the steps behind us disappear."

This is an important milestone for women's rights that you can witness first hand. Rep. Maloney has said she'll recognize NOW from the floor, and we want to make a strong impression.

Please join us in the Capitol Visitor Center by the Statue of Freedom for a 12:45 pm event. Allow time for mandatory check of coats and bags and purses before going to the statue.
