In a rambling, unhinged speech, Donald Trump just described Devin Nunes as
his “impeachment hero.”

“He’s the hardest worker,” Trump said of Nunes. “He’s unbelievable."(1)

Trump even seemed to admit that the entire conspiracy theory about Joe
Biden and Ukraine was Nunes’ idea in the first place.

Trump is right that Devin Nunes was crucial to the success of Trump’s
cover-up, but that doesn’t make him a hero. It makes Devin Nunes a
disgrace to his district -- and voters have had enough.

Nunes barely won reelection in 2018, and we can finish the job this

Trump’s post-impeachment trial speech was one of his most deranged ever,
described by reporters as a “vengeful, angry, fact-challenged spew.”(2)

He spouted one profanity after another. He called Nancy Pelosi a “horrible
person” who wants to “destroy our country.”(3)

And after senators like Lamar Alexander and Susan Collins voted against
impeachment, claiming that Trump had learned his lesson, Trump once again
said he did nothing wrong and that his call with the president of Ukraine
was “perfect."(4)

But when he started naming the specific people who did the most to help
him get away with the Ukraine scam and cover-up, Devin Nunes was clearly
on the top of his list.

In 2018, we helped flip seven California congressional districts from red
to blue, and came within just a few points of knocking off Nunes as well.
This year, we’re going to finish the job. Here’s how we’re going to do it:

* An in-depth polling campaign to identify the most important issues in
California's 22nd Congressional District.
* A major ad campaign, including billboards and targeted digital ads to
reach the rural and suburban voters in Nunes’ district.
* An unprecedented text-messaging get-out-the-vote effort that can reach
tens of thousands of voters within seconds.

Donald Trump thinks Devin Nunes is a hero. But the truth is that he’s
