Fight for $15

John,
For far too long corporations like McDonald's, Burger King, Jack in the Box and others have been hiding behind franchising agreements to avoid responsibility for how we're treated. By claiming to be arm's length from setting our working conditions, they could dodge being punished for wage theft, harassment, violence and other dangerous violations.
That starts to change now. We're demanding elected officials rewrite the rules to hold the corporations with the power accountable.

A new groundbreaking bill has made it to the Assembly floor in California -- AB 1228, Corporate Franchisor Responsibility Act -- which could change the game by making fast-food companies accountable for the injustices that take place under their brands.
I can tell you first hand that fast-food restaurants like my employer control nearly every aspect of my job. They dictate every single little thing: the uniforms workers wear, how fast workers have to complete orders, what type of lettuce is on each burger, every detail, even down to when workers should smile.
Jack in the Box and other fast-food companies can't have it both ways. If they want to control how our stores are run and the massive profits we're bringing in, then they need to be held responsible for the poor working conditions we're forced to work in.
Let's put these companies on blast by spreading the word. [[link removed]] Let them know they can't turn a blind eye to the suffering us workers face while they sit back doing nothing. They must respect us, protect us, and pay us.
In solidarity,
Anneisha Williams
