My name is Joe Armenta and I'm Congresswoman Barbara Lee's campaign manager. For years, Rep. Lee has been a political hero for me, and serving as her campaign manager has been the honor of a lifetime.

But I'll be honest with you, John: Winning this race is going to be anything but easy – especially when Black women candidates on average raise just one-third the money that white women candidates do.

I decided to join this team because I believe in Barbara Lee. Not only do I know that she has the heart and determination to create a progressive future for all, she also has the track record to prove it. 

Throughout her decades in office, Barbara Lee has fought fearlessly and tirelessly for issues that matter – from fighting to end homelessness, to advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, to protecting reproductive freedom and so much more. She has proven that she will stick to what she knows is right, even if she's the sole dissenting vote out of hundreds. 

I believe in Barbara Lee because she will never waver in her fight for progress – and that is exactly who we need going toe to toe with Mitch McConnell.
