Will you help mothers like Fantaye fight the threat of famine with enset?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Friend,
**Right now, Ethiopia is facing the worst drought in 40 years. This is a devastating situation for farming families like Fantaye’s who rely on the land for food and income.**
It’s not just drought that is having an impact. The ongoing effects of the conflict in the Tigray region and rising food prices with an inflation rate of over 30% is leaving millions of families at risk of hunger.
Although [famine]([link removed]) has not yet been declared in East Africa, it is projected to occur in 2023. If we can see famine coming, we must do what we can to stop it.

With [your support today]([link removed]), families like Fantaye’s can fight the threat of famine through boosting their enset crop. Enset is a staple crop for over 20 million Ethiopian’s and is an important part of the farm system alongside vegetable growing and livestock.
***“Enset is highly linked with our life, it is our backbone. If there is no enset, there is no living on the earth. It’s the fundamental food of our diet.”***

Fantaye, Ethiopia
Enset has earned its name as the ‘tree against hunger’ because it can withstand periods of drought compared to other crops. That’s why my team and I are supporting enset-growing communities like Fantaye’s, so that they can grow enough to eat on their land, even when drought hits.
**Here’s how your donation today could make a difference:**
[**Your $18 donation**]([link removed])
could help support a family with training on how to get the most from their land, including which varieties of enset to grow for food and income.
[**Your $30 donation**]([link removed])
could help provide training on intercropping enset with fruit trees helping to improve soil fertility, control pests. It will also boost enset production and other crop yields.
[**Your $52 donation**]([link removed])
could help provide training in sustainable livestock management so families can keep their cows healthy and use the manure to fertilise the soil and grow more food.
[**Yes, I'll help mothers like Fantaye**]([link removed])
**By supporting families to create a diverse farm with a variety of crops and livestock, families can build their resilience in the face of drought and won’t have to go hungry.**
Thank you for supporting mothers like Fantaye as they work hard to fight the threat of famine.
With best wishes,
**Alemayehu Abebe**
