“Provided with technical support, training and supplies, we were able to respond to the situation to minimize complications,” Dr. Abílio said.

With 55 maternity wards destroyed in the hardest hit areas, UNFPA helped set up cholera treatment facilities for pregnant women to receive specialized care without risk of contagion.

We’re on the ground distributing dignity kits and reproductive health kits, and setting up temporary health facilities in tents to continue providing maternal and newborn health services amid the catastrophe.
