Today, the district attorney investigating former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia indicated that charges may come starting at the end of July. [link removed]
Yesterday, the U.S. Senate voted 49-47 to confirm Nancy G. Abudu to a lifetime appointment as a judge on the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Her confirmation is historic, as she is the first Black woman to ever serve on the 11th Circuit. [link removed]
Here’s what to expect coming up.
Tomorrow, the Texas House will consider three anti-voting bills:
Senate Bill 1070 would pave the way for the state to leave the voter data organization ERIC, [link removed]
Senate Bill 1750 would eliminate the election administrator position in Harris County and [link removed]
Senate Bill 1933 would allow for state officials to take over local election systems. [link removed]
Tomorrow also marks 30 years since former President Bill Clinton signed the National Voter Registration Act into law. This landmark law remains a vital protection today. [link removed]
On Monday morning, the U.S. Supreme Court will release an order list for pending cases. We’re waiting to see if the Court decides to hear a redistricting case out of Ohio or a felony disenfranchisement case from Mississippi. [link removed] [link removed]
