The override of Governor Cooper’s veto to pass a 12 week abortion ban is a huge deal, not only for North Carolinians, but for patients across the Southeast. The worst part (one of many bad parts?) was knowing that [one legislator]([link removed]) could have stood by their commitment to protect reproductive choice and didn’t. Watching a single politician turn their back on their values, their constituents, and fundamental freedoms, it would be easy to get cynical. This is, quite literally, why we have trust issues. 

But we refuse to give in to defeatism—and the good news is, North Carolina Democrats have a plan. 2024 is an opportunity to replace not only Tricia Cotham, but other elected leaders who broke their promises and betrayed the voters who elected them. 

Newly elected Party Chair Anderson Clayton joined Jon Favreau on [Pod Save America]([link removed])this week to talk about how the party can win back power in 2024, more than 15 years after Barack Obama first flipped the state in 2008.

As Anderson said, there’s a lot of work to do to win the state for Joe Biden, hold on to the Governorship, and pick up seats in the Legislature. But NC Dems aren’t taking any voters for granted or writing off any community. So let’s get to work.
