The People’s Action Party (PAP) kicked off its commemoration of the birth centenary ([link removed]) of its founding Secretary-General and former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew (LKY100) with a tree-planting initiative ([link removed]) , inviting Singaporeans to plant 10,000 trees island wide by the end of the year.
Mr Lee started the first tree planting campaign in 1963 and wanted to transform Singapore into a Garden City in 1967. Today, our tree-planting effort reaffirms the Party's commitment to a greener future.
