As we celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month [[link removed]] , we continue to be inspired by the representation and resilience of AANHPI communities. AANHPIs represent us at every level of government, including Vice President Kamala Harris, the first Vice President of South Asian descent; Ambassador Katherine Tai, the first Asian American U.S. Trade Representative; and a number of our alumni who are serving in state legislatures, city councils, and school boards across the country. They lead with their values, care and compassion, and a steadfast commitment to their communities, even in the face of persistent racism, harassment, and anti-Asian hate.

Title 42—a Trump policy that weaponized the COVID-19 pandemic to authorize the expulsion of migrants from the United States—is set to expire on May 11. As this day quickly approaches, it’s crucial that the U.S. government addresses the needs of asylum seekers and prioritizes a just and humane approach to immigration.
