Deep racial divides cut through the workforces of federal contractors, which employ 1 in 5 American workers.

Reveal has fought for years to make public the diversity data the government collects from federal contractors. Now, the data from more than 19,000 companies is out.

On her first solo investigation, journalist Rachel de Leon uncovers a shocking nationwide pattern: Young women tell police they’ve been sexually assaulted, but instead of finding justice, they’re charged with the crime of making a false report, arrested and even imprisoned by the system they believed would protect them.

From Center for Investigative Reporting Studios, director Nancy Schwartzman and Motto Pictures, "Victim/Suspect” will be streaming on Netflix ([link removed]) starting May 23.

** Reveal’s General Counsel Fights for Press Freedom
------------------------------------------------------------

Reveal’s general counsel, D. Victoria Baranetsky, was in Texas this week testifying against a bill she called “catastrophic” for media and critical speech.

The proposed legislation concerns lawsuits known as SLAPP, or strategic lawsuits against public participation. Texas currently has an anti-SLAPP law that allows courts to quickly dismiss meritless lawsuits ([link removed]) that are designed to chill speech by draining legal resources of journalists and critics. But this bill would create a costly and duplicative process that undermines that law.

Baranetsky and Reveal’s First Amendment fellow, Dara Gray, prepared the testimony.
