We have our first opponent in this race. A Republican challenger has officially filed papers to run against Mike in CA-49.

We'll be sharing more about this new opponent very soon, but here’s what is important to understand right now: National Republicans and their special interest allies have been working *aggressively* to flip this seat.

We’re not shocked to see Republicans feel emboldened to jump in so early, and we expect this will be the first of many.

2024 may seem far off, but Republicans aren't wasting any time going on the attack against House Democrats -- and that’s especially true for Mike.

California will be one of the most critical battlegrounds in deciding House control, and Mike’s race is widely considered likely to be one of the “most competitive” contests in the nation.
