Nurse Mentors Sought To Lead Way to Healthy Future
Needed for a more equitable, healthy future: nurse mentors. The AARP Center for Health Equity Through Nursing℠ continues the ongoing work by the Campaign for Action to build a corps of volunteer nurses who can help get nursing students to graduation and beyond. “Mentoring is going to get us to a more diverse and representative nursing workforce,” says a leader in the effort.

Nursing Organizations To Shape Shared Vision at Webinar
Professional nursing organizations need to coordinate with each other to address the social determinants of health and improve health equity for all. That’s the top recommendation in the Future of Nursing 2020-2030 report—and creating that shared agenda is the purpose of a May 10 webinar that includes representatives from the National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurse Associations, Council of Public Health Nursing Organizations, and the National League for Nursing.

New - Nominate for the Root Cause 2023 Health Justice Award
The Root Cause Coalition calls for nominations for its 2023 Health Justice Award, which honors organizations that have successfully implemented a program to reduce health—matching the coalition’s mission of collaborating across sectors to improve and achieve health equity. Winners will receive $25,000 and be recognized during the coalition’s December 3–5 national summit. Deadline: June 19.

The Aging and Disability Business Institute at USAging invites community-based organizations that are partnering with health care entities such as hospitals and health plans to apply for the John A. Hartford Foundation 2023 Business Innovation Award. The award is intended to draw national attention to innovative strategies from the aging and disability networks and inspire others to replicate those ideas. Deadline: May 5.

Licensed primary care clinicians including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and physicians are invited to apply for the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program, which will pay up to $50,000 of debt for those who serve in urban, rural, or tribal communities with limited access to care. Deadline for the Health Resources and Services Administration program: April 25.

Health Facilities, Schools Offered Funds for Pathway to Nursing Programs
Accredited schools of nursing, health care facilities including federally qualified health centers or nurse-managed health clinics, are invited to apply for the Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention Pathway to Registered Nurse Program, designed to create a pathway from academic training to clinical practice. Since 2019, the de Beaumont Foundation has recognized leaders who are changing the face of public health in creative and innovative ways with its 40 Under 40 in Public Health list.
