The Environmental Protection Agency just unveiled new proposals that will completely rev up our electric vehicle growth in the United States.

The proposals are aimed at restricting CO2 limits to promote EV usage for personal and heavy-duty vehicles effectively. It is projected this would spur two-thirds of all light-duty vehicle sales to be electric within the next decade and potentially reduce 10 billion tons of CO2 emissions. To put that in context, that is twice the U.S.’s total annual emissions for the entire economy.

EPA’s proposal includes three alternatives for this rule, of different levels of ambition. With climate change right at our doorstep, we must take advantage of every opportunity to make massive transformational changes. That’s why SEEC Co-Chair Doris Matsui and SEEC Member Yvette Clarke led 54 of their colleagues calling on EPA to go as big as possible when developing these rules.
