lead the way as the nation with the most billionaires (735), with China
second at 562 and India third at 169. With its new $80 billion in funding
from the Inflation Reduction Act, the IRS is eagerly awaiting its chance to
explore sources of money in the federal government's quest to close the
"tax gap." Last week, the IRS submitted their plans as to how they intend
to use the money, with one of the goals being to increase audits on
high-income individuals. [4]WG Economy, April 12, 2023.pdf

Fox News will host the first official debate of the 2024 Republican
presidential primary in Milwaukee in August, the Republican National
Committee's chairwoman announced on Wednesday.
"We are going to host the very first debate with Fox News. It will be a Fox
News Republican primary debate," Ronna McDaniel said on the network's
flagship morning program, "Fox and Friends," adding that all participants
will be asked to agree to a party loyalty pledge to support the eventual
nominee.
Donald J. Trump the former president and current polling front-runner for
the nomination in 2024, has refused to say whether he would support a
nominee other than himself. In a February radio appearance, he said his
support "would have to depend on who the nominee was." [6]Read more

The Clock Is Ticking On Debt Ceiling Negotiations
WG Discussion Points | David Winston
April 7, 2023
The media is captivated by the indictment against former President Trump,
as the story incites fury among Republicans and glee among Democrats.
Meanwhile, the economy remains volatile, and the clock is ticking on the
nation's debt limit. In his March 28 letter to Speaker McCarthy, President
Biden restated his refusal to negotiate: "As I have repeatedly said, that
conversation must be separate from prompt action on the Congress' basic
obligation to pay the Nation's bills and avoid economic catastrophe.".
From the latest survey from Winning the Issues (March 1-3), a majority of
voters want the President and Congressional leaders to negotiate a
reasonable solution to the debt limit (51%). One in four (23%) prefers the
approach of the President waiting to negotiate after Congressional leaders
put forward their plan, and the approach of the President refusing to
negotiate with Congress and insisting on a clean debt limit increase
without conditions had the least support of the three paths (14%).
