Utah Lifts Restrictions on Nurses, Giving Residents More Options

Good news for residents of Utah, which has joined 26 other states and D.C. in removing legal barriers that have kept nurse practitioners from providing all the care they&rsquo;re educated and trained to provide. The 14th state to make such a change since the Campaign started, Utah&rsquo;s shift will help &ldquo;make the most of their health care workforce,&rdquo; says the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

2023 Rankings & Roadmap Highlights Civic Health in U.S.
This year&rsquo;s County Health Rankings & Roadmaps focuses on civic health&mdash;the opportunities people have to participate in their communities. The University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute assessed cities&rsquo; infrastructure and civic participation. The map alone of social and economic health factors is an eye-opening view of the results of investment or disinvestment. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation funds the annual initiative.

Tele-Town Hall Offers Guidance for Family Caregivers
In an hourlong Tele-Town Hall now available online, Evelyn Collier-Dixon, RN, MS, MDiv, of the National Black Nurses Association, and Rita Choula, MA, director of caregiving at AARP&rsquo;s Public Policy Institute, review the increasingly sophisticated options available to family caregivers. The experts answer questions and offer guidance for how to navigate in-home services, including dialysis, bloodwork, X-rays and more.

Survey Seeks Answers from Nurses Serving on Boards
Spread the word: Nurses who serve on boards are asked to lend their knowledge on a first-ever survey from the Nurses on Boards Coalition. The goal is to understand the value of this leadership role, any barriers, and other measures that can pave the way to getting more nurses on community boards. Thanks to Mississippi&rsquo;s Action Coalition for spearheading the effort through a Health Equity Innovations grant earned in 2022. Please complete the voluntary survey for each board you serve on by April 17.

Accredited schools of nursing, health care facilities including federally qualified health centers or nurse-managed health clinics, are invited to apply for the Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention Pathway to Registered Nurse Program, designed to create a pathway from academic training to clinical practice.
