JOhn, the 2022 election went a lot better for Democrats than most pundits expected. But we still lost the House by 5 seats, and Republicans won critical State Supreme Court races in Ohio and North Carolina.

Now, Republicans are likely to pass mid-decade gerrymanders in both states — and their new court majorities could uphold these lines. This could put House Democrats in a further hole going into 2024 of as many as 6 additional seats.

All of this raises the stakes for a battleground district like ours. We can't afford to let Republicans gain further ground. The first step toward stopping them is to make our FEC goal and show that we mean business for the 2024 cycle. The size of the playing field matters in any fight for the House. Every seat that Democrats have to play defense in means fewer resources that we can devote to flipping Republican seats.

So it's important to be prepared for an expensive race in VA-10 as early as possible. Republicans held Jennifer to a win of less than seven points last time, and they'll be looking to build upon their gains next year.
