One thing we know for certain, John: bigots absolutely hate it when an LGBTQ+ candidate wins. Last cycle, anti-equality groups did their best to smear our candidates. Bigots attacked our candidates’ partners and families, sent anti-LGBTQ death threats on social media and falsely accused candidates of pedophilia and called them them 'groomers' – old and disgusting tactics used to marginalize LGBTQ+ people.
This year, they’re back at it. Danica Roem is facing ANOTHER anti-trans and anti-choice opponent in her race for the Virginia state Senate. One of Jalen McKee-Rodriguez's opponents previously wrote "The Bible does declare homosexuality a sin, regardless of what the law (sic) say" and was involved in a scandal where pastors urged voters not to support Jalen because of his "lifestyle."
