Spring is in the air, the cherry blossoms are blooming, and it’s officially budget time in the state Legislature! Senate Democrats released their operating and capital budget proposals just last week.

Budgets are a statement of our values. And these budget proposals protect our people and our planet by funding early learning centers, supporting abortion clinics facing an influx of patients, and investing in clean energy programs.

But that’s not all: Senate Democrats also proposed over $450 million in investments to transform our behavioral health care system and nearly $1 billion to address our housing crisis .

This budget truly is historic – for the first time, we’re putting money from the Climate Commitment Act to work to reduce greenhouse gasses and clean up our waters . We’re also addressing the desperate need for special education funding with $475 million to support students.
