Featured Funding OpportunitiesNorthern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) 2023 Catalyst ProgramEstablished in 2008, the NBRC is a partnership between the federal government and the States of Maine, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont. The mission of the NBRC is to fund economic development and infrastructure projects throughout designated counties in its four-state service area. In NY20, this means projects in Schenectady, Rensselaer, and Saratoga Counties. The Catalyst Program brings multiple investment priorities together to stimulate growth and inspire partnerships for rural economic vitality in the northern border region. These projects will be partially funded through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).If you are interested in applying, Letters of Interest (Required) are due April 21, 2023, by 5:00 p.m.Economic Development Administration Public Works and Economic Adjustment Assistance ProgramsThe EDA provides grants to meet the full range of communities’ and regions’ economic development needs from planning and technical assistance to construction of infrastructure.Through the Public Works program, EDA provides investments to help distressed communities build, design, or engineer critical infrastructure and facilities that will help implement regional development strategies and advance economic development goals to promote regional prosperity.Through the EAA program, EDA provides investments that support a wide range of construction and non-construction activities in regions experiencing adverse economic changes.EDA intends to review applications expeditiously upon receipt of the complete application. There are no application submission deadlines. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until funds are expended or a new NOFO is released. Learn more here!Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant ProgramThis is a new competitive grant program created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to strategically deploy publicly accessible electric vehicle charging and alternative fueling infrastructure in the places people live and work, including downtown areas and local neighborhoods, particularly in underserved and disadvantaged communities.Eligible Applicants include cities, counties, local governments, and Tribes.The Application Window opened March 14th and closes May 30th. Apply Here! Featured Grant AwardTonko Secures $500K Award for Dental Residency Program at Whitney Young Health CenterLast week, I announced that the Whitney M. Young Jr. Health Center in Albany has been awarded a grant of $499,999 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). These funds, allocated to Whitney Young’s Teaching Health Center Planning and Development Program, will allow the health center to establish a community-based dental residency program that will ensure access to quality dental care for thousands of Capital Region residents. In February, I submitted a letter to HHS successfully requesting this federal funding in support of Whitney Young Health. Small Business ResourcesSmall Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) ProgramsIf your small business is engaged in scientific research and development, you may qualify for federal grants under the (SBIR) and (STTR) programs. These programs encourage small firms to undertake scientific research projects that help meet federal research and development objectives and have high potential for commercialization if successful.New York Small Business Development Center (NYSBDC)The NYSBDC provides small business owners and entrepreneurs in New York with the highest quality confidential business counseling, training, and business research at no cost.The Albany Small Business Development Center serves small businesses in the Capital Region. Since its start in 1984, the expert advisors of the Albany SBDC have worked directly with 26,807 businesses, helping them to invest $495,947,350 in the area's economy, and create or save 14,766 jobs.You can make an appointment for counseling by calling 518-442-7232 or filling out their online form.
