Earlier this month, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) named Val one of their "House Democrat targets" for 2024. That's a big deal, and according to most fundraising consultants, we should drive that home by asking for a contribution right here in paragraph one.

We'll get to that. Instead, we want to make sure everyone knows why the NRCC's announcement is particularly dangerous to a movement like ours:

Because of differences in campaign finance law, wealthy funders can cut huge checks to the NRCC (one person can give more than $40,000 per year) to attack Val. That's more than ten times what our campaign can accept from a grassroots supporter like you.

That means not only that the NRCC can spend tons of cash attacking Val with deceptive ads and dishonest mailers, but that our campaign has to work ten times as hard to get the truth out there.

So, when they announce that they're targeting Val, we have to step up our fundraising and organizing efforts big time, John. That's why we've set big goals for our grassroots fundraising this quarter – because our campaign has always been powered by supporters like you, and we're in for a heck of a fight.
