News Alert: Government uses money to pay for abortions that was earmarked to safeguard mothers and babies in pregnancy

The Irish Times report here that taxpayers’ money earmarked for the safety of mothers and babies in pregnancy was instead diverted to fund abortions should come as no surprise to anyone who has been following developments closely.

The present government has cravenly pushed abortion at every turn and dishonestly engendered fear about the need for abortion on ‘health’ grounds, all the while doing nothing to actually improve the safety of women during pregnancy.

They used the Savita Halappanavar case to introduce abortion and then sat back for another two years before introducing new guidelines for the treatment of sepsis in pregnancy, which was the real issue at the centre of the Savita tragedy.

And now once again, we see the same Government diverting money away from ensuring the safety of women in pregnancy (National Maternity Strategy) to instead fund abortions that have nothing to do with healthcare.

It is devastating to watch ideology take the place of evidence-based medicine and respect for life. But a day will come in the not too distant future when people start to see through the duplicity and spin and the truth of what is going on will become clear for all to see. Stories like the one below will hopefully hasten that day.
