News from Representative Allred

Dear John,

Last October, a series of tornadoes and storms swept through North Texas, leaving catastrophic damage across our communities. Now, months later, some of our neighbors are still picking up the pieces and struggling to rebuild their homes and businesses.

This is a priority for me. I recently led a bipartisan group of my Texas colleagues in the House in writing a letter to President Trump urging swift approval of Governor Abbott’s disaster declaration request. If approved, it would make much-needed disaster relief funds available to affected North Texans.

Rep. Allred surveys the damage left by the October storms to assess how he can help recovery efforts at the federal level.

The Insurance Council of Texas has estimated that the tornado caused $2 billion in insured losses, making it one of the most costly natural disasters in our region’s history. The federal disaster declaration would ensure North Texas receives the vital FEMA funds needed to repair our public infrastructure, strengthen our local economy and help many in our community get back on their feet.

I urge the president to sign Texas’ disaster declaration. I am fighting every day to ensure that North Texas gets the recovery funds it needs.

If you need help or have questions regarding storm recovery resources, I encourage you to call my office in Richardson at (972) 972-7949.  It is an honor to represent the 32nd District of Texas, where I was born and raised.

Sincerely,
