John,

There's a lot happening in Washington, so I want to make sure this doesn't fall off your radar. This week, the House is expected to vote on the Republicans' fossil fuel wish list bill -- otherwise known as HR 1.

To put it plainly, this legislation is a giveaway to the fossil fuel industry and polluters. It gives more subsidies to fossil fuel companies, allows faster permitting for new pipelines, erases a number of environmental protections Democrats put in place, and would cripple the Biden Administration's plans for a renewable energy future.

Kevin McCarthy is leaving no ambiguity that this is a top priority in tagging this as House Resolution #1. Needless to say, I'll be a resounding NO on this bill, and doing everything possible to ensure that every Democrat and reasonable Republicans reject it.

This dirty energy bill is just the latest example of what's to come unless we flip control of the House. That’s why defending CA-49 is so important. There's no pathway to the majority if we don’t hold swing districts like mine.

Friday marks the first FEC deadline in our re-election effort. It's my hope that we can use this opportunity to send an overwhelming message that we REJECT the Republicans' blatant scheme to worsen the climate crisis. Please send in a contribution of $3 today.
