Full training provided and no previous experience necessary

Hi John,

This is Hazel from the Volunteer Recruitment Team, do you want to get behind the scenes, make new friends and be a source of support for others? Become a steward for The Big One!

  • No experience needed
  • Training and support provided
  • Volunteer with friends and family and meet new people
  • 4-hour shifts - doing just one shift will be a massive help!

What is stewarding?

Stewards help to ensure all attendees at an event are safe, informed and feel welcome. This includes pointing people in the right direction, helping them find others and keeping people away from traffic. Find out more about being a steward.

Why steward?
The Big One can’t happen without 1000s of stewards, and we urgently need to fill those roles. Stewarding is a critical role, so you can be assured that you’ll be needed. Shifts are 4 hours long, and you’d be welcome to do one shift or many.

Plus it’s a lot of fun! Hear from Nic, pictured above on the left, who says

"I absolutely love it - they are really welcoming and it's so much fun. It's easy to get the hang of and there is lots of guidance. When I first started, I was very nervous, but it's easy to get the hang of, the other stewards look after you and there is lots of guidance and training.”

Who would be a good fit?
The role is open to anyone who wants to play a supportive role for others during The Big One. No experience needed as you’ll receive full training through a course that’s been designed especially for this event. Plus you’ll steward in pairs, with new stewards buddied up with experienced ones, so you’ll always be supported.

We need stewards to reflect the diversity of those attending our events so we are particularly keen to recruit new stewards from diverse backgrounds and communities.

Stewarded before?
Apply for a lead steward role.

What next?

Sign up! This doesn't commit you to the role so it's worth signing up even if you’re not 100% sure whether you want to steward yet

Register for an upcoming training session. The next ones are on 2nd April, 12 April and 17 April
