Dear John,
Today, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will close the window for public comments on a critical clean air rule. Don’t miss this opportunity to speak out against soot, a dangerous form of air pollution affecting Americans across the nation.
The EPA is finalizing a rule to protect our lungs from soot — but it doesn’t go far enough! Submit a public comment before tonight’s deadline and help us fight for stronger protections for communities across the country. [link removed]
Soot, officially known as particle pollution, is a dangerous and sometimes deadly pollutant produced by power plants, vehicle tailpipes and industrial sources.
Exposure to, and inhalation of, soot leads to increased mortality rates, hospitalizations and visits to the emergency room. It is also linked to a variety of heart and lung diseases, in addition to reduced lung development in children, higher rates of asthma, bronchitis, heart disease, cancer and early death.
But stronger federal standards could change this. That’s why we need your help to strengthen EPA’s proposal, so we can protect our most vulnerable — including children, seniors and people with chronic illness.
EPA’s proposed standards are a step towards a cleaner future, without the threat of particle pollution. But to protect everyone we need an even stronger commitment. Don’t miss this opportunity to protect our communities from deadly soot pollution — submit a public comment before the window closes today! [link removed]
Thanks for your support,
