“Turmoil in courts on gun laws in wake of justices’ ruling” - The Associated Press
Team,
The Supreme Court’s decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. Bruen struck down a key gun safety law last year. The American people are paying the price.
This Supreme Court was built by dark money and it gets flooded with briefs funded by murky outside groups that try to push the justices to the fringe. It’s no surprise that SCOTUS handed a massive win to the gun lobby with the Bruen decision.
Contribute what you can today to support our work to stop the NRA, gun manufacturers, and their dark-money allies from getting the final word on gun laws. [link removed]
The Bruen decision changed the test that courts throughout the country had been using to assess gun safety laws. So, judges are no longer allowed to consider whether firearm restrictions serve public interests like protecting public safety.
The result? Gun safety laws around the country are being called into question and challenged in court, including ones that have protected our communities and the most vulnerable populations for decades.
With horrific mass shootings on the rise in America – a unique problem among Western nations – we need to do more to address gun violence and keep our communities safe. Part of that means insulating our courts from special interests like the NRA.
So, I’m asking if you will make a donation of $5 or more to my campaign today before our end-of-quarter deadline? I will continue to do everything in my power to take on the gun lobby. [link removed]
Today and every day, I’m grateful you’re by my side in this fight.
