Franny is slowly overcoming the trauma.

Friend,

To the commercial breeders who kept her, Franny didn’t have a name—just an ID number tattooed in her left ear. She was a breeder dog at a facility that housed more than 4,000 beagles, destined to spend their lives producing puppies to be sold to a research facility doing drug toxicity testing.

The Humane Society of the United States rescued Franny and almost 4,000 other dogs from terrible conditions at the facility. While those dogs got a second chance, most animals used and abused for research do not.

Friend, that’s why I’m asking for your support today. The Humane Society Legislative Fund is fighting for policy changes to end animal testing and save millions of animals suffering in laboratories and breeding facilities, as well as fighting to protect all animals from cruelty and abuse.

Approximately 60,000 dogs are used in research in the U.S. each year, with nearly 38,000 more held in breeding facilities or laboratories for future use. After they are force-fed or injected with potentially toxic substances, most either die from the tests or are killed. To protect these animals and many others, we need you. Will you please support our every effort to fight animal cruelty and abuse with a $20 gift today?

After Franny was rescued, she was taken in by an emergency foster family. She was scared and anxious—her tail tucked tight between her legs. She had hardly left her cage before her rescue, and she hadn’t experienced much kindness from the humans she’d encountered. But Franny’s family is easing her fears, and she’s even beginning to enjoy cuddling!

While Franny is on the road to healing, more animals need you now. Your contribution can help strengthen laws and regulations to end animal testing and save animals from cruelty and abuse.

Sincerely,

Sara Amundson Signature
