John,
Polar bears, caribou, seals and other Arctic wildlife were sold out to Big Oil when the massive Willow oil-drilling project was approved.
Alaska’s Western Arctic is the largest, most intact stretch of wilderness in the United States.
It must be protected — not turned into an oilfield. [link removed]
President Biden reneged on his promise and, like Trump before him, failed to consider the true cost of Willow.
This project will desecrate a precious landscape by covering it with hundreds of miles of roads and pipelines and puncturing it with nearly 200 new oil wells. It will hurt the Iñupiaq community of Nuiqsut, already suffering extreme pollution from existing oil projects.
It will push polar bears — already facing starvation — closer to the brink. It will harm migratory birds, seals, and other species.
Meanwhile, Willow will worsen the climate crisis by emitting more than 260 million metric tons of greenhouse gases over 30 years — as much as almost 2 million cars.
Tell the Biden administration: Save the Arctic, protect wildlife, and stand in solidarity with Alaskan Native communities by withdrawing approval for the Willow project. [link removed]
