Hi John, Did you see Alexandra's email earlier today? She's contributed all of her savings to keep this campaign going. But she's not Jeff Bezos, so it's still not enough. With a big reporting deadline at midnight tonight, she needs your help to make a strong showing. Can you pitch in anything you can to help us end this reporting period proudly? Donate Now Thanks for everything you do, Team Hunt ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Alexandra Hunt <[email protected]> Date: Mon, Mar 27, 2023 at 5:00 PM Subject: Mission critical Hi John, You probably didn’t know this, but my savings account now reads $0. Not because I don’t have a job or because I didn’t have a savings plan – I do. But because our campaign needed another $100,000 to stay afloat. I’ve given all of my savings to keeping this campaign going. I’m not a wealthy millionaire who could fund their entire campaign – I can’t do this alone. Can you chip in even $10 now to help match me and get our campaign across the finish line? DONATE NOW >>> If we can’t match what I’ve put in myself before the end of the month, it’s going to be a struggle. And I know what it’s like to struggle. I’ve lived paycheck to paycheck. I moved out on my own in high school. I couch-surfed during my graduate program. I’ve struggled with professional discrimination because of a job I took on as a college student. For a time, I lived off ramen noodles and coffee so I could buy dog food for my dogs. I am still paying off my student loans. That’s exactly why I’ve put in all my life savings into running to be Philly’s next City Controller. Spreading our progressive message to local governments – where change can be immediate – is the next big step. I know I’m not alone in these struggles. My story is the story of working Americans everywhere who are fed-up with a system that places our needs last. City budgets can start working for regular people – but only if progressives like me are in positions like the City Controller. I know times are tough. We all have bills and worries. If any of you can chip in and match me by supporting this campaign, it would mean the world. The cost of not taking dark money from corporations is taking on the responsibility of campaign costs personally. I am proud that I remained true to my values and my integrity. At least I can sleep well at night knowing this campaign was funded by me and by the people in this movement. I am hoping you can help match me now. It’s going to take all of us, together, to win this election. And I have never needed your support more. DONATE NOW Chip in $10 Chip in $25 Chip in $50 Chip in $100 Chip in $250 Chip in another amount Our campaign has a reporting deadline at midnight tonight. This close to our election—tonight’s is the most important deadline of the entire campaign. We have to have a strong showing to show the voters that we have what it takes to carry the City Controller’s Office. Please donate whatever you can before midnight tonight. I’ve given everything I can. Now, I need your help to get us across the finish line. In solidarity, Alexandra Hunt Democrat for City Controller     Alexandra Hunt is a public health researcher, a girls’ soccer coach, an advocate for social, racial, economic, and environmental justice, and a community organizer. She's the daughter of two teachers and a sister to a twin brother with a learning disability. Seeing the systemic obstacles her brother faced inspired Alexandra to become an advocate and challenge barriers on the basis of race, gender, class, and ability. Now, Alexandra's running to be the Philly's next City Controller because the people in Philly work too hard for too little. And right now, line items in budgets create lines for food and health care. It's time to elect a City Controller who is going to prioritize the needs of the communities Philly's money comes from.
