We need your help to push back on Trump’s #PeaceSham

This is not a plan for peace. It is a green light for annexation and a
recipe for permanent occupation and endless conflict.

Friend -

The Trump administration just released its so-called “deal of the
century.” It’s every bit as bad as we expected.^[1]

The plan green-lights Israeli annexation of the Jordan Valley and
virtually all Israeli settlements. It offers the Palestinians only an
unworkable quasi-state which would remain largely under Israeli military
control.

Effectively, the Trump team has put forward a plan for permanent
occupation and endless conflict.

Despite being dead on arrival, this release of the plan opens up two
significant risks:

 1. Netanyahu pledged in today’s speech to move forward with the immediate
annexation of all Israeli settlements and the Jordan Valley. It’s
possible he might bring such an idea to his cabinet as soon as Sunday.
It’s unclear if he will succeed, but we must take the threat
seriously.
 2. The Israeli far-right will likely try to enshrine this document as the
new baseline for negotiations, widening the gap between the Israelis
and Palestinians and making it harder for future Israeli negotiators
to make the compromises necessary to achieve an agreement.

That means this is a critical moment for everyone dedicated to the
achievement of a just and viable peace to spring into action.

[ [link removed] ]Can you rush us an emergency donation to help us lead the opposition to
Trump’s #PeaceSham?

Over the coming days and weeks, we’ve got a tremendous amount of work to
do to educate the public about the dangers of Trump’s approach and to
organize and amplify broad opposition from members of Congress, 2020
candidates and Jewish communal leaders.

We need to send an unmistakable message that Trump’s cynical gambit --
released to distract from his and Netanyahu’s political troubles -- has
not undermined the international framework for resolving this conflict nor
created a lasting change in US opposition to settlement expansion and
annexation.

[ [link removed] ]Chip in whatever you can to make sure our message is heard loud and
clear.

And if you haven’t already done so, [ [link removed] ]please register for our emergency
briefing tonight at 8pm. We’ll talk to policy experts and members of
Congress about the content of the plan and next steps for the pro-Israel,
pro-peace movement.

Thanks for your support,
Jess Smith
