John,
Did you know that Texas has one of the lowest rates of voter turnout in the country?
It's true. Last November, less than half of all registered voters in Texas turned out to cast a ballot — and that doesn't account for the hundreds of thousands of additional Texans who are eligible to vote but aren't registered.
Republicans thrive on low voter turnout to win, which is why they work so hard to suppress the vote. The Texas GOP already passed an onerous voter suppression bill after the 2020 election, and now they're working to pass even more restrictions ahead of 2024.
It’s clear Republicans are terrified of losing their grip on power in Texas — and for good reason. By 2024, over 800,000 young Latinos in Texas will reach voting age. If every single one of them registered and cast a ballot, the Lone Star State would turn blue in no time.
In recent years, we've registered more than a quarter of a million voters in Texas alone. If we can keep up that pace, we will be well on our way to flipping Texas blue so we can make our voices heard and reshape the balance of power in the Senate and the Electoral College for decades to come.
But the truth is that we can’t get it done without your support. It takes about $24 to register and mobilize a voter in a state like Texas, and there are hundreds of thousands of voters to reach.
So please, if you’re able, pitch in to help us keep registering voters and defeat vote-suppressing Republicans in battleground states like Texas:
