This year, IJM is fighting a new — and terrifying — form of slavery.

In the waters of Thailand, thousands of men are currently employed in the fishing industry — many of them against their will. Promised a way out of their poverty, they are lured into work on fishing boats only to find that they are trapped at sea, separated from their families and forced to work in grueling conditions.

Next week, we’re going to introduce you to one of these men: Ron. Ron spent years at sea, abused and enslaved, enduring 23-hour work days while wondering if he’d ever see his family again.

They preyed on his vulnerability. He was baited.

John, Congress is deciding right now just how much money will go toward freeing men like Ron in 2021. We need to make sure our leaders support anti-slavery funding so the work of rescue and restoration around the world can continue.

Your signature has the power to send them that message.

Sign the petition telling Congress not to back down in the fight against slavery. Tell them this matters to you. Tell them that if they don’t fund this life-saving work, people like Ron will never be free.

Will you lend your voice for people like Ron?
