Hi John,

I wanted to take a moment to e-introduce myself. I’m Pavitra, Lauren’s senior advisor working behind the scenes to help advance our agenda and get our district’s priorities across the finish line.

I’m proud to be a part of this team, alongside a dedicated, hard-working leader who is a trailblazer for women, Black communities, working families in IL-14 and across the country.

Lauren knows a thing about firsts. She was the youngest Black woman to be elected to Congress, nearly 50 years to the day that Shirley Chisholm made history as the first Black U.S. congresswoman. Now, Lauren is serving as co-chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee and is the first Black woman elected to House Democratic leadership in over 30 years. She’s inspiring much-needed change in Washington and making sure no community is left behind.

While I’m looking forward to what we will accomplish together, I’m also keeping a close eye on the rocky political landscape ahead of us, complete with a growing number of extremist politicians working against Americans every day.

Lauren already has three far-right opponents running against her to take this seat and undo our hard-won progress. But Lauren tells me that this team is dedicated to protecting our democracy, strengthening our rights and winning elections for IL-14.
