Hi, Michigan has recently undertaken commendable reforms in firearm safety to curb gun violence and keep guns out of the hands of violent criminals, but we'll need national, federal reform if we hope to #EndGunViolence in schools once and for all.
Statement: Mass shooting in Nashville terrorizes school
Today in Nashville, horror breaks out at a Christian school, leaving six dead, including three children. There have been more mass shootings than days in 2023. This is a public health crisis. The death toll doesn't account for the countless lives terrorized by the trauma and parents' fear of sending their children to school nationwide. Gun violence is the number one cause of death in young people, perpetually enflaming our Nation's mental health crisis. Congress needs to convene and present to the Nation bipartisan recommendations and solutions to #EndGunViolence in schools once and for all. Schools are supposed to be a second safe haven for our children. How many more have to die before thoughts and prayers turn into action and change?
