This morning, at Covenant School in Nashville, TN, kids as young as preschoolers came to school where a woman, armed with two assault rifles and a handgun, shot and killed three kids and three adults.
Children should be safe to learn and grow in their classrooms, instead, they are at risk every day. Because of gun violence, their number one killer. We need our lawmakers to take action to save our kids and stop these senseless mass shootings: Will you add your name to our urgent petition calling on Congress to ban assault weapons?
I don’t understand it, John. How can our lawmakers sit idly by as children continue to die?
Congress has the power to ban assault weapons, like the one this gunman used, but they have failed to – for years.
Even after 20 children were killed with an assault weapon in Newtown ten years ago,
Even after 19 children were killed in Uvalde less than a year ago.
And because assault weapons remain on our streets, three more kids and three adults are dead today. The 129th mass shooting this year.
Our job as adults is to protect children and keep them safe. And Congress is failing at that job right now. We can’t be numb to these continued tragedies - ones that were cause for action long ago. Right now, we desperately need Congress to finally respond after the tragedy in Nashville: Will you join me in our urgent call to our lawmakers to finally take lifesaving action and ban assault weapons?
Our children deserve so much better, John. I’m sick of kids being shot. I’m sick of being afraid when I drop my own kids off at school. And I won’t accept any more denial or thoughts and prayers from paid-off politicians. They must protect kids, change this country and save lives. Join Brady in telling lawmakers to ban assault weapons now and stop the next tragedy.
