Let's Shift the Farm Bill!

The Agriculture Improvement Act, or "Farm Bill," is the most important legislation shaping
United States food systems. Passed only twice per decade, the bill directs over $700 billion of investments - setting national priorities for how we grow, distribute, and dispose of food. It is largely responsible for the immense harm today's food systems cause to animals, people, and the planet.

This year's Farm Bill reauthorization is an opportunity to improve our agriculture and food systems for animals, people, and the planet. And we are using this chance to support meaningful systemic reform.

By partnering with policy leaders and food-justice organizations, Farm Sanctuary is performing a critical role in bringing plant-based solutions into conversations around United States food and farm spending.

This Wednesday, March 29, Farm Sanctuary will host a kickoff Capitol Hill event, uplifting Representative Earl Blumenauer's (OR-03) introduction of the Food and Farm Act of 2023.

As an alternative to the Farm Bill, this legislation focuses resources on those who need them most, fosters innovation, encourages investments that help animals, people, and the planet, and ensures access to healthy foods.
