John,
We want to keep you up-to-date on Jared’s work advocating for Mainers and breaking through partisan gridlock in Congress, so here is just some of what Rep. Golden has been working on this month.
SUPPORTING MAINE’S FAMILY LOGGING OPERATIONS:
Earlier this month, Jared and Senator Angus King introduced the Future Logging Careers Act, which, if passed, would allow small logging businesses to safely train 16- and 17-year-old family members for their future careers in the Maine forest products industry. The bill has bipartisan support and directly addresses the problem of declining jobs in the logging industry.
“Family-owned businesses are a tradition of Maine’s forest economy and their ability to pass down the trade to future generations is a priority,” Jared said.
PUSHING FOR INCREASED SUPPORT FOR UKRAINE:
Jared led a bipartisan group of lawmakers in urging President Biden to increase support for Ukraine, including providing F-16 fighter aircraft to aid in their fight against Russia’s invasion. Senior U.S. Defense officials believe that F-16 aircrafts would make a significant difference in the conflict.
ATTENDING THE STATE OF THE TRIBES ADDRESS:
On March 16, Jared was in attendance for the State of the Tribes address. The event marks the first time in Maine’s history that all five tribal chiefs addressed the State Legislature. As a longtime partner of the Indigenous tribes in Maine and a proponent of tribal rights and sovereignty, Jared was honored to be present for such a historic event.
We know that none of this would have been possible without your continued support. Thank you for being on our team.
Sincerely,
Team Golden
P.S. The end of the first fundraising quarter of the new election cycle is quickly approaching, so our team has been working hard to ensure that Jared puts forward the strongest finance report possible. If you want to help us reach our first quarterly fundraising goal of 2023, you can chip in here:
