Join the National Association of Scholars on Tuesday, March 28, at 2 pm ET for "Anti-Asian Discrimination in College Admissions."

Every “plus” on one student’s college application translates to a “minus” on another student’s application. In the process of boosting the applications of so-called “underrepresented minorities,” admissions offices routinely penalize Asian-American applicants, dismissing their diligence and hard work as a “lack of personality.” How did the widespread discrimination against Asian-American students arise in American higher education? Why has the plight of these minority students been so disregarded by progressives?

This event will feature Wai Wah Chin, adjunct fellow at the Manhattan Institute and founding president of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance of Greater New York;  Lance Izumi, Koret Senior Fellow and Senior Director of Education Studies at the Pacific Research Institute and author; and Devon Westhill, Senior Counsel at the Center for Equal Opportunity.

This event will be moderated by Wenyuan Wu, Executive Director of Californians for Equal Rights Foundation and columnist for Minding the Campus.

The principles underlying modern air conditioning were in use even in pre-modern societies. But it wasn't until the invention of the industrial air conditioner that people were able to precisely control the temperature in their homes, offices, and other environments.

How was the air conditioner developed? What has its influence been, and how did it change our habits at home and at work?

This event will feature Salvatore Basile, author of "Cool: How Air Conditioning Changed Everything"; and Henry Petroski, professor of civil engineering and history at Duke University and author of "The Distance We've Come."
