John,
They accused us of lying, scaremongering, and 'spreading fake
news'.Â
But now the truth has come out - we were
right:
Four years ago we raised
the alarm that the rush for post-Brexit trade deals could push
politicians into scrapping our strict standards on palm oil
production. Put simply, we'd be importing products that have
caused widespread deforestation and threaten critically endangered
Orangutans.
Not only did the Government deny it - they
accused us of spreading lies when we tried to tell the British public
the truth.
But now we have it in writing: the government is preparing to
capitulate to demands from Palm Oil lobbyists in order to secure a new
trade deal:
A lot has changed since we first raised that alarm and, three prime
ministers later, we need to let this Government know we're
still watching and still won't stand
for the devastation of endangered wildlife:
I need your help once more John to force the government to take the
survival of endangered species and their habitats off the negotiation
table - before it's too late.
Best wishes,
Cary Mitchell
