As we begin the holy month of Ramadan, we must reaffirm that all people of faith have the right to worship without fear.

Friends -

For almost two billion Muslims worldwide, last week marked the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

To me, Ramadan means fasting and prayer. It means charity and forgiveness. It is a time for peace, reflection, and renewal.

Each year I look forward to taking stock of each and every blessing I have received, reminding myself of the struggle that those less fortunate in society face every day, and reflecting on how I can make the world a better place through service to my community.

But this year, Ramadan comes at a time of increasing terror and a rise in attacks against our brothers and sisters across the country and around the world.

As we begin this holy month, we must reaffirm that all people of faith have the right to worship without fear.

That's why I have proudly introduced a resolution in Congress condemning Islamophobia, specifically commemorating the anniversary of the 2019 Christchurch Mosque Massacre and recent anti-Muslim attacks.

Today I'd like to ask for you to sign-on in support of my resolution to show that our movement stands united in condemning Islamophobia and bigoted violence in all its forms. Please add your voice to mine at this link.

ADD YOUR NAME

This resolution condemns the transnational threat of White supremacist ideologies, conspiracy theories, and violence, and affirms the rights of religious minorities both here at home and around the world.

According to the Council of American-Islamic Relations, there has been a nearly 30% increase in hate and bias incidents against Muslims since 2020, and Islamophobia and right-wing violence against Muslims is on the rise in countries in all corners of the globe.

And while anti-Muslim hate crimes and attacks are at an all-time high, we also recognize that religious hatred and targeted violence is not isolated only to Muslims. Church bombings, synagogue attacks, and racial hate crimes are also on the rise.

If we're going to confront and combat the evils of religious bigotry, we all must act together in solidarity, and recognize that our destinies are intertwined.

That's why I stood with my colleagues and introduced this resolution before Congress, and it's why I'm asking you to add your name in support of it today.

Please, add your name to my petition and show that our movement stands united in condemning Islamophobia and bigoted violence in all its forms. This is important.

We cannot stand idly by in the face of division, violence, and hatred.

Thank you for reading.

Ramadan Mubarak,

Ilhan
