The latest in our New Perspectives series comes from Erika Cann, who has created a booklet of walks exploring the special landscape of Dartmoor National Park, accessible by public transport.

“I don’t drive but I love getting out onto the moors, which in the past has been a major barrier for getting outdoors... I wanted to encourage others to make use of the new public transport to Dartmoor … to give people the confidence to explore the moors if they haven’t done so before.” - Erika Cann

We’re delighted to share Erika’s walking booklet, so if you’re planning a visit around Dartmoor National Park, we hope you’ll pick up a copy or download one of Erika’s wonderful walking routes.

** Fighting for National Parks and AONBs in Parliament
------------------------------------------------------------

Fourteen months ago, the Glover Review of Protected Landscapes was published, examining if protections for National Parks and AONBs are still fit for purpose and recommending what might be done better.

So far the Government have made little to no progress in taking forward nature recovery proposals from the Glover Review.

This inaction is putting our protected landscapes at risk, which is why we’ve made a renewed call for amendments to the Levelling-Up Bill which would give National Parks and AONBs stronger protection for nature recovery and public access.

** Making the most of the National Parks APPG
------------------------------------------------------------

Earlier this month we were delighted to take part in a National Parks All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) event in Westminster with the new Landscapes Minister Trudy Harrison. We and an alliance of other concerned groups called on the Minister to equip National Parks with the new powers and resources these places urgently need.

Joining us at the event were several of our Ambassadors and New Perspectives bursary holders including public access advocate Charlotte Ditchburn. Read about her experience below.
