Gun violence is a uniquely American crisis.

As daily gun violence devastates communities across the country, cities like Parkland, Uvalde, and Buffalo continue to deal with the aftermath of mass shootings. And yet the far-right MAGA Republicans and the NRA are relentless in their efforts to push their “guns everywhere” policies. One thing is clear. We must take urgent action to pass life-saving gun legislation.

The reality is we will never be safe from gun violence until we enact and enforce reforms that prioritize American lives over fear-mongering and the gun lobby.

As a responsible gun owner and veteran of the gun violence prevention movement, I’ve spent years working with legislators, volunteers, and survivors to find comprehensive solutions to this very complex problem. We’ve made significant legislative gains in the last congress, but the NRA and MAGA Republicans continue to push a “more guns save lives” narrative that is making us all less safe. For that reason, leaders of the gun violence prevention space have partnered to create the Stop Gun Violence PAC.

Together, we are joining millions of Americans in demanding action by recruiting and investing in gun violence prevention champions for state and federal office.

We can end the gun violence epidemic, but we need a groundswell of support to get us started.
