Clear and present danger: Today’s most popular social media app poses a distinct threat to American citizens, concludes Tech Policy Center director Kara Frederick.

Protests: The FBI logged 16,000 more hours after the Jan. 6 riot than after the deadly 2020 BLM riots in D.C., Heritage’s Oversight Project found. Meanwhile, Heritage and Advancing American Freedom are suing the Justice Department for records on its (lack of) response to 83 attacks against pro-life centers.  

• “It’s clear the FBI and Justice Department have been weaponized,” said Mike Howell, director of the Oversight Project. 

Pain at the pump: The Environmental Protection Agency proposed a rule that will further cut fuel supplies, notes Heritage Executive Vice President Derrick Morgan.  

• The rule would take money from gasoline customers and send it to companies that make electric vehicles. 

“Instead of increasing American energy security ... this proposal encourages automakers to make cars with Chinese batteries or with Chinese-mined or Chinese-processed minerals,” Morgan writes. 

Universal choice: Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to sign into law the newly passed HB 1, which expands the state’s Family Empowerment Scholarships to all K-12 students. 

• “Florida has long been a pioneer in empowering families with education choice. And the state is living up to its first-place status in Heritage’s inaugural Education Freedom Report Card,” said Lindsey Burke, director of the Center for Education Policy.
