Over the past few months, it’s been an honor to hear from supporters
across California who have reached out and encouraged me to run for US
Senate next year.

While I’m truly grateful for their support, I love representing Silicon
Valley in the House and will not enter the race for the California Senate
seat.

Instead, I’m proud to announce that I’m endorsing Representative Barbara
Lee for the US Senate and will serve as co-chair of her campaign.

Barbara is the progressive leader Californians need right now. And her
solid record as one of Congress’ most outspoken [ [link removed] ]champions of justice
speaks for itself.  

Barbara isn’t just an exceptional legislator; she’s also a personal hero.
Her lone vote against the war in Afghanistan 20 years ago is one of the
most courageous acts of modern time, and it inspired me to first run for
Congress at age 27 on an anti-war platform.

I also believe that representation matters. The United States, as
Frederick Douglass said in 1867, is a composite nation. But for far too
long, our country’s institutions have failed to reflect that reality.
Black women are the core of the Democratic Party, yet there isn’t a single
Black woman currently serving in the Senate. 

We can finally change that.
