Good afternoon John

We are delighted to announce the launch of our project to tackle poverty-related barriers and stigma in schools. The new UK Cost of the School Day project will support pupils and school communities over the next three years to reduce financial barriers around school trips, uniform, fun events, attitudes and more, so all children can thrive at school.

This work builds on the success of the Cost of the School Day in Scotland, and we’re now partnering with Children North East on this UK project, drawing on their ‘poverty proofing the school day’ expertise. Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, we can increase the project’s impact in Scotland and extend its benefits to England and Wales. We’ll be working in 128 schools in Coventry, London, Neath Port Talbot and Moray.

Putting children in the lead, the project will help bring about change within schools and the wider area, creating a cultural shift towards a more inclusive education system for all children living in poverty.

We hope you will join us in celebrating the launch of this new project by sharing our news with your friends

Best wishes,

Kate
