Dear
Friend,
Today we commemorate the anniversary of the Triangle
Shirtwaist Factory Fire and the heartbreaking deaths of 146
garment workers, mostly young immigrant women and girls. Trapped in
the burning factory by locked doors, many leapt to their deaths from
the building’s high windows while others asphyxiated or burned inside.
Photographs of the tragic aftermath shocked the conscience of the
country, and led to improved safety standards for factories, stricter
labor laws for children, and the growth of the International Ladies
Garment Workers Union.
One hundred ten years later, workers' rights have
regressed as Democrats and Republicans collude to undermine the power
of unions in favor of corporate interests.

A recent
expose documented migrant children as young as
twelve working in dangerous jobs,
with no oversight by the Department of Health and Human Services
responsible for protecting them. It is as if the Triangle Shirtwaist
Factory disaster
never happened.
The Green Party advocates for the
physical and emotional health of children and workers through
support for universal federally funded childcare, financial family
assistance, and a living family wage. We believe children should spend
their days playing and learning- not working.
Your donation helps our party and its candidates advocate for
better educational opportunities for children, and safer workplaces
for their parents. Donate
today to the Green Party of the United States and
support us in our mission to create a more just and hopeful world for
all.
